Varaela was significantly late to the party, arriving even after Brion. Her lateness wasn’t entirely her fault, however. About an hour or so before it was to begin, a group of maids had seen Varaela in her usual tunic and leggings and asked her why she wasn’t getting ready for the party. She had given them an odd look and told them she was ready. The girls had then taken it upon themselves to get her ready, even going through the trouble as to get an order from the King so that Varaela had no choice but to let them. Varaela had then spent the next three hours being bathed, dressed, and beautified. She had hated every minute of it.
Now, she slunk into the room from one of the less frequented entrances, hoping not to draw attention to herself as the dress they had put her in made her feel incredibly self conscious. It had a lower neckline than she would have liked and the sleeves –which were made of a sheer material– hung partway off her shoulders. Her hair had simply been left down, since she normally wore it up, and she was not used to feeling her hair brushing against her shoulders and upper back. Most of the dress was bright purple with white embroidery, but the front parted to show a lighter purple material beneath. Unfortunately, there were plenty of people who did notice her, most of them staring in amazement as none of them had ever seen her looking so feminine. She just glared at them and they quickly moved along. (I’m going to post a picture because I drew this dress for her over a year ago and have been dying to use it xD Plus my description failed miserably.)
There was no way she was going to go to the table with the kings just yet, so she did her best to stay in the shadows on the edges of the room, hunching over and wrapping her arms around herself as she walked as if trying to make herself smaller and less noticeable. Luckily, she had been able to talk the maids out of making her wear high heels,–mainly because she was so tall already– so she was at least able to walk normally. She could not understand how some of the women were able to move much less dance in the clothes they were wearing.
Drezdon was not particularly enjoying the party, but unlike he would have when he were younger, he certainly did a good job of pretending he was. The only reason for his less-than-optimal mood was that he was constantly being reminded of how tiny and pathetic his kingdom looked next to Vulci. It was not something he really liked being reminded of. He had excused himself from the table and was about to go find Ariella when Mia intercepted him. He smiled at her when she complimented him and took his hand and then said, “That is quite a compliment coming from the most beautifully dressed woman in the room.” He actually meant the compliment, it was not part of his pretense. Not that he had really been paying much attention to any of the other ladies anyway, but Mia did look quite exquisite in her dress and heels. He had to admit, he had also been thinking he had dressed better than the young king. Tonight he had chosen a gold shirt and doublet with a red robe and black trousers. The robe matched the color of the rubies in his crown, tying it all together nicely.
Ariella hadn’t left the dance floor since they arrived except to welcome the King of Vulci. She had just finished dancing with a man from Yolse and finally decided it was time to take a break and find something to drink. Unintentionally, she and Drezdon kind of matched in their choice of clothing which Ariella found funny since they were twins. Her dress was primarily red, but it had a crocheted net of white flowers over the red base layer which could still be seen easily beneath. The sleeves were also made of the crocheted material and flowed beyond the length of her arm. They had a slit up the side, however, so that it was easier to move. To top it off, she wore the ruby and diamond necklace Ace had given her and a tiara of similar a design. (That was such a failed description. I’m working on a drawing of her dress now, so I’ll post it ASAP.)
She found herself a goblet of wine, finished it off and then went back out for more dancing. After several more dances, she went and found another goblet and upon finishing that one decided she wanted another. Now, the Princess was rather tipsy as she wound through the crowd. She spotted Damien and started toward him. “Dro– I mean Damien!” she called to him with a huge grin. Though she wasn’t stumbling, it was easy to tell by the red in her cheeks that she was not quite herself.
Vivian stood out on an empty balcony, her back to the ballroom. A moment later a man came out and joined her, handed her a small pouch of coins and then left. She tucked the pouch into the bodice of her dress and then after a few more minutes, went back in and joined the party again. She was here for two reasons, the first of which had already been accomplished. The second reason was that she just needed to get out of Hyde and especially the castle. It had taken a little bit of convincing, but finally King Drezdon had allowed her to come along as “Ariella’s handmaid.” At least, that’s she would tell people who asked.
Vivian’s dress was rather simple compared to many of the ladies there; it was a dark green velvet with black trimmings. Quite the opposite of the other women there, however, her dress was far from modest with its low scooping neckline, tight fitting bodice, and sleeves hanging completely off her shoulders. It earned her many looks; from the men it was either a look of desire or shock, but the women gave her looks of complete and utter disgust and disapproval. Vivian didn’t care, she simply gave them a look, daring them to say something, and just kept walking. Her hair had been done up so that most of it was in a braid that wrapped around the back of her head, but some was in a loose bun in the center of the braid wrap with pieces hanging partway down her back.
With a quick glance around the room, Vivian spotted Ace leaning against the wall looking very nice in his white suit. She made her way through the crowd to him. “You look quite nice all dressed up like that,” she told him with a smile as she came to stand beside him. “You also look like you could pass out at any moment,” she added teasingly.

(Nice dress ^-^)
Brion watched the party of a bit as he had a talk with Alistair the general of Hyde suddenly stood up, and decided to go join in with the party. Upon finding a fetching lady of Elosi who had traveled with her family to try, and wow the King, Brion decided to give her a small dance, but soon parted ways after the song ended, and he found his way to his Advisor who was glaring at a few guys who were giving her a good stare. Stopping before she could see him he suddenly gave a evil smile as he noticed his other friend walking down the stairs. Running over to the poor lad he grabbed him, and began dragging him over to Varaela. "Remember when you forced me to fight her?" Brion laughed as he dragged Duncan past a few dancing people. "Well, here's my payback!" He laughed, and pushed Duncan over to stand near Varaela with a sudden push. (I don't know if Varaela is even gonna have a love interest let alone if you prefer Duncan, or Brion so I'm going to play around for a bit with these two~ I was also debating on Alistair, but was like .... nah. Though if you like that one I can have Mia push him onto the dance floor near Varaela later.. xD)
Duncan who had just been upstairs preparing the guards to stay on guard, and not be staring was returning to the party to go speak with the general of Hyde was suddenly grabbed, and being dragged. "Fight....? .......Hey! No! She'll kill me!" He complained, but it was way to late as suddenly he was stumbling to get his balance from the push, and was now standing in front of Varaela. "........ Nice ..... weather were having." He commented in awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck, and looking around for the King soon finding him watching while he danced with some lady. "I see someone forced you to dress up." He decided to comment figuring it was best to not come out, and say she looked nice as he figured that would earn him a black eye, or worse.
Mia raised a eyebrow at him, but smiled. "I don't know, I think many ladies seem to be better dressed than I." She laughed, and looked at the people dancing. "Come milord, show me how well you can dance." She spoke with a smile, and put her arms around his neck not really giving him a chance to say no. "A handsome King like you will be crowded with the ladies soon enough, so I demand first." She informed as she waited for him to either come up with a excuse, or to get ready to begin dancing.
Damien looked up from a book he had been reading that he assumed someone from Vulci left on a table. Upon seeing who it was he placed the book down, and gave a bow. "Princess Ariella." He greeted as he walked over to were the Princess stood. His eyes went to her cheeks, and he raised a brow assuming the princess had a bit too much wine, but he didn't comment. "I'm working on finding you a husband do not worry." He stated not really knowing why the princess would come up to him during a party. "Sir ______, and Lord ______ seems like suitable partners for you." He added pointing at two guys who were standing off somewhere doing whatever. "I think they would be willing to give you a dance if you went over there." He informed looking back at the princess. He wasn't looking at the princess for himself so he had no plans to take advantage of her tipsy state. "I've even found your brother some ladies I'll force him to dance with once he's done with Mia over there." He laughed though he doubted Drezdon would care to much he still had looked around.
Ace had almost dozed off when a voice reached him. Opening his left eye to see who it he laughed at the comment. "If I look good than these Lords, and such must look like gods to you." He yawned opening his other eye finally as he looked at her, and snapped his finger using a spell like he had been the past few hours to keep him going for a bit longer. "I must say Vivian for a handmaiden you look make these others ladies look like peasants." He commented looking around as he reached for a glass of wine. He hadn't been really active at all during the party for one he didn't have a fancy title that made women want to be his wife, and two he didn't really care. "I'm surprised your not trying to woo King Brion himself." He commented as he rolled his shoulders because if he stretched he would certainly hit someone in this filled room.
(I'm thinking of have Brion near the end of the ball have a gladiator type fight just so I can have Ace win it cause I wanna do a fight scene showcasing his new moves. xD I'm also thinking of introducing a new character, and if you want it can be a female for the male mage you rp who name I forgot xD)
